API3 (Application Programming Interface 3) is a decentralised blockchain protocol that aims to provide secure and decentralized data feeds for decentralised applications (dApps). Its primary goal is to bridge the gap between off-chain data sources, such as web APIs and the blockchain, and provide a reliable and trustworthy way for dApps to access external data. API3 accomplishes this through a number of innovative features, including its Airnode node infrastructure, which allows API providers to directly connect their data sources to the blockchain. This eliminates the need for intermediaries and helps to ensure the integrity and security of the data. In addition, API3 uses a decentralised governance model that allows community members to vote on key decisions related to the protocol, such as updates and fee structures. The API3 protocol has its own native cryptocurrency called API3, which is used for staking and governance on the network. Users who stake API3 tokens are able to participate in network governance and earn a portion of the revenue generated from API fees.
