About Maker
Maker (MKR) is a decentralised finance platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. It is a governance token for the MakerDAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organization) system, which provides stablecoins such as DAI. DAI is pegged to the US dollar and can be used as a stable currency in the DeFi ecosystem, allowing users to reduce their exposure to volatile cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. MKR holders have a say in the governance of the MakerDAO system and can vote on proposals to change the system's parameters. For example, they can vote on the interest rate for borrowing DAI, the stability fee charged to keep DAI pegged to the US dollar and the collateral types that can be used to back DAI. In addition to its role in the MakerDAO system, MKR is also used as a form of collateral to generate DAI, and it can be bought and sold on cryptocurrency exchanges.
